Eugene Tian

Chief State Economist for the State of Hawaii

Kaitlyn Bunker, Ph.D., P.E.

is the Principal for Rocky Mountain Institute’s Global South program, where she leads a diverse team that partners with islands in the Caribbean to support and accelerate their clean energy transitions. The team completes energy modeling and technical analysis to develop integrated resource plans, prepares and de-risks resilient clean energy projects, and connects energy professionals in regional communities of practice. She has worked closely with stakeholders in Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, the British Virgin Islands, the Turks and Caicos Islands, and Bermuda. Kaitlyn also leads modeling efforts related to small island microgrid opportunities.

Devin De Wulf

is a community organizer for solar in New Orleans. He runs two cultural NGOs in New Orleans, Krewe of Red Beans and Feed the Second Line, and assisted his neighborhood which lost power during Hurricane Ida this year.

Devin is a history graduate from the University of Charleston. He initiated a program entitled 'Git Lit Stay Lit' to help low-income communities who would otherwise not qualify for tax credits - get solar power through crowdsourcing.

Allan Schurr

Enchanted Rock is one of the foremost suppliers of microgrids in the United States.

Allan Schurr holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Davis, and a Master’s in Business Administration from St. Mary’s College in California. He will speak on how microgrids have assisted the people of Houston when they had significant power outages.

Ken Aramaki

is the Director of Transmission, Distribution, and Interconnection Planning at Hawaiian Electric. He leads a team that plans for the future of the T&D system as increasing levels of renewable, inverter-based resources are added to the grid. Previously, Ken co-led a working group to develop an approved Microgrid Service Tariff to improve resiliency in Hawai‘i. He also leads a project that was selected under the Energy Transitions Initiative Partnership Project to create a map that identifies potential microgrid opportunities on O’ahu.

Paul Ponthieux

Director/CTO at Blue Planet Research. Co-Founded Blue Planet Energy and designed and built HISEAS Mars Analog Habitat on Mauna Loa, a NASA-funded research facility.

Co-Founded EMC2 Technologies to develop Monitoring and Control software for micro-grids.
