Our speakers include: Honu Nichols Honuʻāina Nichols (they/them) graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BS in Political Science, focusing on International Relations and Environmental Studies. Honu is a certified facilitator of community design, co-management and popular education pedagogy from the National Association of Climate Resilience Planners. They spent four years as the Climate Change Education Coordinator at Mālama Loko Ea Foundation, where they executed a place-based Environmental Justice Curriculum for Title I DOE schools. Since 2024, Honu has served as an Executive Committee Member for Kuaʻāina Ulu ʻAuamo, the Sierra Club Oʻahu Group, and the Hoʻopae Pono Peace Project. They currently work with the Oʻahu Hub Learning Community to broaden their outreach, resource and empower local expertise for emergency preparedness in their own resilience hubs through monthly virtual gatherings and working groups.

"Sage Murakami is a graduate of the Natural Resources and Environmental Management (NREM) program at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Sustainability. He serves as the Lab Manager for the CERENE Sustainability Lab at Kapiʻolani Community College and as a Community Assistant for the Oʻahu Learning Hub Community, supporting the development of resilience hubs, community partnerships, and sustainability initiatives across Hawaiʻi. Sage is also the founder of Hui Holoholo, a community organization dedicated to environmental stewardship, cultural connection, and sustainable fishing practices."

Cody Winchester Community Resilience Planning ManagerDMHA, AICP

Cody specializes in Disaster Management and Community-Based Resiliency Planning. He prepares environmental impact documents, applications for various land use permits, master plans, design guidelines and technical assessments of climate change factors. Cody excels in presenting technical data in clear, understandable language for decision-makers. He is certified through FEMA with Community Planning for Disaster Recovery, Volcano Crisis Awareness, and Decision Making. He has also trained with the American Red Cross in Disaster Assessment and Sheltering Services and is a board member of the Hawai‘i Wildfire Management Organization. Prior to joining G70, Cody worked on coastal hazard adaptation research and training programs at the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC).
